Medical Informatics Initiative

The Medical Informatics Initiative is a state-funded project to connect all university hospitals in Germany as well as other research institutions, companies, health insurance companies and patient representatives with the aim of exchanging data between (medical) research and care (of patients). A five-year development and networking phase from 2018 was followed by an expansion and extension phase in 2023. Now that data integration centres have been established, the data sharing strategies developed are to be institutionalised and the exchange of data promoted.
