German Alliance for Childrens' and Adolescent's Health (Bündnis KJG)
As part of a comprehensive modernization process, the General Assembly of Members of the German Academy of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (Deutsche Akademie für Kinder- und Jugendgesundheit (DAKJ)) adopted new statutes in 2022 and founded the successor organization Alliance for Child and Youth Health (Bündnis Kinder- und Jugendgesundheit e. V.).
The associated commission emphasizes in their statement “Forschung an Kindern für Kinder” which translates to 'research on children for children' that children are both in psychological as well as in somatic respect not 'little adults'. Furthermore, that there are significant variations depending on age and therefore specific research is necessary. In their statement the commission also deals with ethical and legal aspects.
The Bündnis KJG (previously: DAKJ) also expresses its views on the qualifications of medical staff with regard to the medical care of children and adolescents. In their consensus and position papers, they call for, among other things, the strengthening of training and further education for healthcare and paediatric nurses or the entitlement of children and adolescents to treatment by specialist paediatric staff.
