Five to six days after the fertilization, the fertilized egg cell (Zygote) matures to be a blastocyst. This exhibits a cell count from 32 to 58 cells and consists of two parts: a covering cell layer called trophoblast, from which the fetal part of the placenta emerges, and an inner cell mass, of which the fetus develops.
