Literature Search
The literature database BELIT contains the whole library collection.
The Bioethics Press Review provides a comprehensive overview of the latest bioethical issues covered by the German and international press.
Collection
The focus of the library collection is on the following areas:
- foundations of bioethics,
- medical ethics,
- environmental ethics,
- climate ethics,
- animal ethics, and
- ethics of science and technology, in particular ethics of artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, the library collects literature in general ethics, philosophy, theology, jurisprudence, medicine, and life sciences.
The holdings are freely accessible and shelved according to the library classification.
The library collects
- monographs and collective works,
- reference works,
- journals,
- grey literature (e.g. ethical codes, statements, theses, research reports, surveys, proceedings or parliamentary publications),
- legal documents, and
- newspaper articles.
Currently, the collection comprises approx. 15,000 books, 100,000 documents, 2,700 journal volumes, and 80 journal subscriptions.
Using the Library
The library is open to everyone during the opening hours.
Workspaces
There are seven workspaces available at the library. Wi-Fi is available via eduroam or guest accounts.
Scanning, Printing, Copying
High-quality scanning to USB, printing and copying is possible.
Lending Service
The library is a reference library and books may not be borrowed.
However, it is possible to borrow items over the weekend from Friday to Monday. Members of departments of Bonn University may borrow books for one week.
