Statistical data on animal experiments in the EU
Based on data provided by the EU Member States, the European Commission issues reports concerning the type and number of animal experiments conducted in the EU. The most recent report of 2019 refers to animal experiments conducted in 2015–2017. Former reports were published in 1994, 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

The registration process for animal experiments has been standardised within the EU by Directive 2010/63/EU which came into force in 2010 and by the Commission Implementing Decision 2012/707/EU.
