The term "genotype" refers to the genetic make-up of an organism, or the combination of hereditary dispositions that underlie a trait. The term "phenotype" covers the visible qualities of an organism, in other words it constitutes the outward physical manifestation of a trait. The phenotype is determined by environmental conditions and by the genotype.
